Photography II (week 12)

Today I had to reshoot some photos for Capstone so I took this chance to get some more shots of Shay. She is an amazing person to work with and is always silly and fun. I know every time I work with her I will get some good images out of the day!

Photography II (week 11)

The weather is BEAUTIFUL! That means I must go outside and get some photos. Today I got the chance to work with Ava and my Grandmother and it was a very silly shoot (as it always is with those two.)

With my new knowledge of my Manual settings, it was time to test them out! I think it went rather well too.

Photography II (week 10)

This Week, I took to finishing up the edits for my Capstone! I wanted to visually link them to the large ceramic vase that I am using as a metaphor for emotional destruction, so I decided to take photos of ceramic pieces shattering and overlay them with the portraits.

I wanted to use them in a way that they would frame their faces and link the portraits together as well.

Here are the first attempts.

After Editing these.. and trial/error.. I have learned how to make images larger and still be good quality! And after learning that....I realized I had to reshoot all three images. Thats how my life works though so I took it and rolled with it! I spent the morning reshooting my images, editing them, and now I have the REAL final images for my Senior Capstone

Photography II (week 9)

This week I finished my last Portraits for my Senior Capstone on discrimination. I work with Zoe, at her house, and told her to dress how she would normally dress. for these portraits (and many of the photos I take) I like people to feel comfortable and natural so I usually don't make them wear anything specific. Today Zoe was in her CCSU zip up and leggings, an outfit many of us college students wear!

In each of the photos I am only slightly coaching the subjects. I am only telling them to think about the story they are sharing with me, how it affected them, how they reacted, how they have begun to rebuild themselves and how they are today. I enjoy this photo and how it fits with the rest of the images for my project in that they show a progression. each person is in a different stage of their story and Zoe's is a good one to end with.

I want to thank everyone who has helped me with my Capstone, and Participated. I wouldn't have been able to do it with out them and i am honored that they agreed to share their stories with me.

Photography II (week 8)

Back to photographing the always fabulous Shay! She has been awesome to take and put in different situations; Shay always finds a way to make it fun. Whether we are out in the snow (which she hates) or the park where it's a little muddy (and she had her new sneakers on....) she just jumps right in and I always get awesome shots!

Here are  a few from the week! More will be uploaded after I finish going through them!

Photography II (week 7)

This week I had the pleasure of working with my very good friend Shandra! She looked very studious today so I decided the stacks in the library would be a fun new location for a Photo shoot!

I wanted to make sure her silliness along with her love of books and awkward dancing (those photos will be posted soon) came through in every moment I captured.

I feel as though I accomplished that with these images this week!

Photography II (week 6)

This week I am working with Shay again, however we are focusing this weeks portraits more towards my Senior Capstone. The theme of this Capstone is discrimination and how it can tear a person apart. on the other side of that I'm looking at how people can build themselves backup after something as destructive as being discriminated against.

Shay volunteered to be apart of my Capstone along with Halle and my friend Zoe, all Strong women who have faced discrimination in some form or another, but have been able to rebuild.

These first two images show shay as her silly self and her happy self. Two sides that no one really gets to see. She is a goofball and I wanted to make sure that came through in at least one of her photos.

The last image is the one I will be using in my capstone. It portrays a person who has been through the tough parts of life but is pulling through and becoming stronger every day.
